Hey there, as non US player and after request from US members I start this vote topic for you.
Since the USA is a veeeery large country, finding your All-Star lineup surely isn't easy. But it should be determined by someone who YOU vote as their team leader. So everyone who wants to have a say in how Team USA should look like, please post one answer here:
1) Team leader who you are voting for
2) Would you be available to play yourself for Team USA? If yes, leave notes for the Team leader about your skill, experience, contact info etc.
For the sake of overview, please don't go off-topic. For discussions, open another thread in the forums (General forums / feedback etc).
Since signups close 20th May, I suggest you spread the word around the US community fast to vote here ;)

Coercri for commander marine side, golden for commander alien side...
Colt for his solid marine play / amazing fade play
I'd say GLISS but he isnt playing much anymore so hes out...
Bitey for being solid all around
breasthound / derriere
and JEWBEAR OF COURSE
but seriously...my all star line up would be coercri, golden, colt, bitey, breasthound, and ADHD or myself :D

I was under the impression that anyone can make a team, and the teams will scrim each other and the team that comes out gets to be team america.

True, but realistically there isn't a good chance that we'll be able to organize an intra-US tourny before the cup starts for multiple US teams. Best just to choose the best one now imo.

Who says you need to have an "intra-US tourney"? If there is a better team than the current one, they just need to beat the current team in a best of 5. If there are several teams, then each team just need to play the team that is the current "king of the hill". Not much organziation needed for that, just that the challenging team(s) contacts the currently signed up team and gets the match going.

Seems as though there's going to be at most 2 teams. Easiest solution is just to have those teams play for the right to represent!

That's difficult to do when the teams are well-established clans let alone when its just a group of players. If we truly wanted to determine the "best" US team, we'd really need some sort of formal setup in which players are mixed together in different combinations to find the one that works the best.
However, all that's mostly a moot point since the S2 NA D1 group has been basically a defacto intra-US tourny. Since Nexzil basically ran the table, the best US team is likely Nexzil + 2-3 from the other top NA clans.

Dn, Bklub and KKG have all taken rounds off of Nexzil both in match and scrimmages. Bklub often goes 1-1 alien wins with them.
Dn has additionally 2-0'd Nexzil in scrims recently or at least 1-1. There's not a huge gap between the top teams anymore. It's not really fair to say "nexzil" this "nexzil" that.
That's how it was maybe last time you spec'd scrims but not now.

Fair enough. Good to hear the other teams are catching up and possibly surpassing Nexzil. Team USA should probably be who wins the NSL S2: NA Div 1 Brackets plus a few members from the other teams. I'm totally open for that being someone else besides Nexzil, but Nexzil still looked on top on their game in their semi-final match vs All-In.

I think there needs to be a vote or something. No offense, but that team USA right now loses to Sweden, France, Canada, and Finland. Probably Spain (if dugi prepares) and Germany is too close to call (USA wins if blind signs up and commands instead of Aioros :D j/k blind).
My vote is for Patchy, Gorgeous, Colt, derriere/xorex, edak/jewbear(lerk), and Shino/locklear(comm).

I like how the USA seemingly needed a GERMAN to actually start them conversing about the team!
A plus for that XD !
and are you guys capable of reading?
I am pretty sure that other "teams" alrdy showed a sort of decent way to put together a team .. like the swedes with the nominate yourself and vote for a captain that will chosse the bestpossible team(probaply with some advisement)
It is not that hard !

It actually is for the US comp playerbase because
1. There are a HUGE number of us
2. Most US players don't actually use these forums
The closest thing the US comp playerbase has to a centralized location is the UWE forums.

Picking the best US team is a lot more involved than doing a poll of team captains because I can count at least 45+ players who are skilled enough to potentially be on that team (e.g. NA D1 - Ready Up + AtroX). The proper method would be to do a US Cup where the players are rotated between teams to find the best combination (think a gather-style cup).
With what little time we have left, I don't see a 'Best Team USA' poll doing anything but generating ill will between the top US players.

This is silly, ScardyBob. Making a team for a nations cup is really easy, you're just complicating it. All you need is a captain (ideally selected through a vote), or a couple of captains, to pick the team and hey presto, you have a team.
While we're on the topic of sillyness: stop complaining about the difficulty of having too many good players. That really grinds my gears. Ten years of ns1/ns2 and I've never played on a national team, because Norway doesn't have enough decent players to make one. I guess I should make a thread and complain about how unfair the nations cup is to small countries? Boo hoo!

Sure, making a team of skilled comp NS2 US players is trivial. However, selecting the best combination of US players is not. I've been following Team AUS's selection method (http://ausns2.org/showthread.php?541-NSL-Nations-Cup-1) which largely works because they only have roughly 15-20 potential players to choose from. Even so, are the players they selected the 'best' team AUS can field? Maybe, but probably not.
Also, you call pointing it out silly, but your situation shows exactly why the underlying concept of a Nations Cup is absurd. National boundaries have very little in common with the actual NS1/NS2 playerbase.
Call it what you want, but I firmly believe that NS2 leagues/cups/tournies should separate teams/players based on skill rather than living in a country with too many or too few NS2 players.

I very much doubt that the selection method you suggested will result in a fairer selection, nor can I envisage any truly fair selection method without extensive stats collection which is simply not possible.
An ns2 nations cup is no more silly than a football world cup. If you don't like it, I wish you good luck and godspeed arguing against the billions of people who enjoy competitions between nations more than competitions between clubs.

Being popular doesn't make it right or smart.
Also, all those World Cup's, Super Bowl's, Championship Games, etc are about the spectators (i.e. selling ads) than it is about the game/players. If tons of people were interested in watching paint dry then we would see someone make a 'World Watching Paint Dry Championship'.

Top player from the best ranked team in NA is captain he selects his line up then you discuss it.
France votes Bitey for captain.

Can we talk about how Miss Universe isn't fair because there's only contestants from Earth?
