Recently there was a short discussion on slack-channel concerning, which maps are assigned to which matches. So for example (and which raised the discussion after all) Lucky Chams are playing Vanquish on Jambi and docking2.

Currently this is assigned randomly (maps are assigned to weeks and challonge button creates the round-robin matches) - and that's a good thing (because fair) imo. I don't feel like elaborating on this, yet again, though. Others disagree on that.

But here might be another fair way and you guys might come up with even more ideas or refinements:

Give each team the entire map-pool with doublets for the maps that are played twice. Further give them the randomly created schedule. So they know which teams they are going to play when. Now each team assigns its map-pool to their matches. They can do it entirely secretely, or if they see any reason for doing it (see below) they can share their plans with their opponents. Either way at the end the team-leader sends the assignment to the admin. He in turn - after receiving all assignments - fills the schedule now with the maps.

Each match consists of 2 maps. One assigned by team A, the other assigned by team B. Since all teams got the same map-pool they are all playing the same maps in total and they have it in their own hand, which teams they play which map.

There is a reason, why you might want to partially reveal your plans to your opponent: you don't want to play a single map 4 rounds long.

Besides the above possibility I see another small drawback here: custom maps and their updates during the season. When it is clear that docking2 for example is played in week 6 and week 6 only, it gives the mapper a deadline until which he can do any updates to it (roughly week 4 to give the teams time to practice the changes). With the above this deadline is pushed before season-start. It happened before that some bugs only got found during the season, when teams start practicing the map. If that occurs the map maybe must be updated during the season, with some teams having played the map already and others not. If these changes, though, only include bug-fixes that shouldn't be too severe.

For Season 9 this is too late of course. But maybe we can spend some thoughts into this for Season 10.
