The official NS2 announcement can be found here: http://unknownworlds.com/ns2/european-open-2013-announced/

The grand final of this event will be played and broadcast live at insomnia49 in the UK at 24h August - with casting of Strayan and blind

This event holds a maximum of 16 teams and signups are open until the 23th of June, so hurry up on gathering your team! For this event, only european teams can join up the contest.

We hold 4 team slots reserved for invitational admin seeding, so only the first 12 teams who join up get a garuanteed slot to participate. Nevertheless, if you see already more than 12 teams signed up here, you can still sign up and possibly get a chance to play if those 4 slots aren't needed or teams drop out right before the cup start. In that case, first comes, first serverd.

To join the cup with your team, you need to be Team leader (you can create a new Team on the link "Agenda" on top right), then click on Agenda -> Team -> Edit -> Contests -> Join European Open 2013 Signups

The tournament group stages and playoffs are held in timeline between 26th June and 14th July, also with specific rescheduling options and rules, which will be explained in detail very soon.

As an important note, the old vanilla NS2 gameplay will NOT be used for this. There is a good chance that the BT will be included in the official build by the time this cup starts their games, but in the case it is not, the games have to be played on the current BT version.

Prizes

This is a very special chance for the community to show their support for the game - by help donating prize pool money. UWE will match every donated $, so if we are able to gather 1,000 $ UWE puts in another 1,000 $ ! Additionally, Unknown Worlds Entertainment covers the cost of flights and accomodation of the teams and casters! About 2 hours after announcement, the pool already holds over 370$!

Nice joke...

Split the community.

Sorry don't want to play Bt Mod.
I will play the actual game and not a mod test...

If uwe incorporate bt in the actual game Ok or somes improvement from bt ,why not.

If this tournament is for bt , No thanks you.Play just the current version of the game.

At this moment they have only 20-25 player who play bt...
At this moment ,they have 400-500 who play normal game...

or if you want, you can change the title :) and they will have no problem with me.

European Open "bt" 2013

soz for english, this is my opinion.

They've already hinted towards the Balance Test Mod becoming the official version of Natural Selection 2. So yes BT will be the actual game.

BT will go live in vanilla - and that probably right after the end of the Balance Test Mod Cup.

Forcing teams for maybe a couple days to play the old vanilla version would be pretty contra productive towards teams practicing.

This means, we don't split the community - we just plan ahead.

When you will stream ,i want see a game that i know... that viewers(and player of ns2) know.

Actually when we see a match of bt ,ffa player didn't know the modification.

For example, if i see football/soccer on t-v ,if now i see futsal.. or variante it's not the same... (i just know that we need to make a goal)

I just want to see one same game in ns2.
If uwe make change ok but if they don't...

In you're comment you are sure that bt come in ns2 but this sentences in your news ^^

"but in the case it is not, the games have to be played on the current BT version." scared me ^^

Wait and see.
^^

sorry for my english :( Bad teacher or bad boy :D

Personally and not speaking for nsl, im abit split aswell. I've only played like 3 BT matches and it seems ok but not quite there. I'm hoping that they do implement something before the Open, so people will get acustomed with the game again. This is always a very delicate issues and we shouldnt get the torches out before anything has even happened. But i would also prefer a game i know is balanced when playing for prizes or a chance on a big event spot. Last I heard the BT changes were coming in during the Nations Cup and we were told to start practicing it before the playoffs, but that never happened. So we'll just have to wait and see what comes out of this BT Cup. The timeline until Open isnt too far away, but there should be time to adjust the game and make it fun to play. I say should ;)

playing another vanilla ns2 tourny is like throwing the game down the drain, this cup followed by a free weekend accompanied with b249 being released we should see a influx of players hopefully.
